Creating When The Finances Say No August 24th, 2008

When my Checking Account is empty and I want to create, I look to recycle.  If the budget won’t even allow a little thrift shop or yard sale cruising, I go through my own closets.  Old sweaters can be remade into bags to carry your reading or knitting in.  I slice up old sheets to use as fabric, or into strips to crochet with.  Old sweaters can be taken apart and upcycled into new garments.  Old books become altered books or with a little paint or gesso over the writing a journal.

Green crafting, recycling, upcycling keep you creative when there are no funds.  I’ll be posting great recycled art ideas as I come across them.

Flea Market Tips August 15th, 2008

I love flea market.  They are a great source for collage ephemera.  I can find yarn for cheap and add to my many collections.  Going to a flea market is one of my artist dates with myself.  The people, atmosphere, and booths full of stuff give me tons of inspiration and refill my creative well.

Here’s a video by Jennifer Perkins from Naughty Secretary Club.  She’s one of my favorite creative people.  Jennifer shares her 5 best flea market tips.

Walgreens Going Green With School Supplies August 14th, 2008

If you have a Walgreens near you(I bet you do!) and you love school supplies, check out their recycled juice pouch pencil pouches.

I love school supplies, and especially ones that help the environment by recycling something that stays in the landfills forever.  And if you hurry, they’re buy one get one free.

    Post-It Note Upgrade! August 10th, 2008

I love Post-It notes.  I keep them at my desk and stick them everywhere with project ideas, phone messages, to do notes ,etc.  I stick them on the steering wheel of my car when there’s something I keep forgetting to do when I’m out and about.  They get messed up in my purse, though.  So I found this creative solution.

sticky notes books or sticky notebooks
